ok, i mean it for real this time...i'm going to stick with blogging! i've put a lot of news and tidbits on my facebook over the course of the last couple of years, which is why i haven't really felt the need to revisit the blog. but, i came here this morning to peruse some old entries, and see what abby was up to when she was the age that ian is now.
we are having a major snowstorm starting today...noaa calls it "historic" and says it will "paralyze southern wisconsin." so, yeah. major.
kindergarten has been going very well for abby. she has lots of friends, she does well on her schoolwork, and is apparently a pleasure to be around. she's been doing reading with the first-graders once a week lately, and that seems to be going well too. she says she gets all the questions right, which makes me wonder if she should be working with second-graders instead. girl needs to be challenged. our conference is scheduled for tomorrow night, but with this snowstorm, it seems doubtful that it will happen.
ian has been busy as well. we are in the throes of potty-training attempt #5 or so, and i'm determined that this will be it. i made up a song today that he's enjoying quite a bit: "big boys go on the potty! big boys go on the potty! big boys wear underwear and go to school!"
we had a new addition to our family a month ago...we adopted a 7ish-month-old cat from the humane society! his name is captain adric von toasternose, but you can just call him adric. he's all black, and gorgeous. he's also hyper hyper and still very much a kitten. he likes to eat inappropriate things like cardboard and window gels. kishi is adapting fairly well...they fight every so often, but she's holding her own better than anticipated.
so, that's a quick roundup of what's been going on here. we're heading to the dells in a couple of weeks for our annual getaway, and we're all very much looking forward to that.
