well, hellloooooooo

i have had a nice break from blogging over the past year, but i believe that i'm ready to start up again.

last night, abby and i were telling each other stories in the recliner before bed.  i started mine, "once upon a time, there was a fairy named...elizabeth."  abby interrupted, "no, EMILY."  "emily it is.  one day, emily the fairy met a little girl named abby, and told abby that she could have 3 wishes.  what did abby wish for?"  face lights up, and the gears start moving..."umm, [long pause] first i wish that there were only 2 seasons, summer and winter.  wait, no, 3 seasons.  fall, winter, and summer.  i like fall because i want to go to kindergarten."  "ok, what's your next wish?"  "i wish that it would never rain."  "hmm...if it never rained, we wouldn't have flowers or grass or vegetables or anything that grows."  [pause] "but i don't like playing outside in the rain."  [i decide to just move past this]  "ok, what's your last wish?"  "i wish that there were only 2 kinds of bugs.  butterflies and ladybugs.  i chose butterflies because they're soooooo pretty, and i chose ladybugs because they're soooo cute and friendly."  [debate bringing up bees and honey, decide against it]

this was the first time we'd really discussed wishes and that she'd actually thought about what she'd wish for.  luckily, she seemed to know that she wouldn't get her wishes, but that it's still fun to think about them.
